eWay History

eWay was launched by entrepreneur Matt Bullock in 1998 and the company’s website, eWay.com.au, followed shortly thereafter in 2000. After four short years, eWay was in use by major banks throughout Australia. By 2009, eWay would expand to New Zealand. The United Kingdom would receive eWay services in 2011 and Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia were added in 2014.

In addition to the rapid global expansion that eWay has achieved, eWay has also partnered with a number of prominent SaaS companies to provide enhanced payment procedures.

eWay made the company’s first step into physical payments with the development and release of SmartPOS. Mobile card readers were created especially for popular applications such as Xero, Salesforce and Shopify. Once a purchase is made at one of these platforms, a receipt can be sent to the client via text or e-mail.

This rapid growth led to eWay being purchased by Global Payments in April of 2016.

eWay Services and Features

eWay offers each client the experience that comes from servicing millions of transactions each day. eWay’s expertise in the field of payment processing is sure to make the process as soon as possible.

In the event that anything does goes wrong, eWay offers around the clock support in the form of phone, live chat and video support.

eWay also offers service plans to meet the needs of businesses of all different sizes and budgets.

eWay Security

In today’s world, technology is completely worthless without the proper security to protect it. eWay works to protect its technology and users by maintaining legal compliance and ensuring that eWay systems remain up as often as possible.

One of the buzzwords in the field of network security today is “military grade encryption”. Strong encryption is becoming increasingly important and cases of cyber crime continue to rise. eWay provides the strongest encryption possible to deter cyber thieves and to protect its users sensitive financial data.

eWay shows its comitment to world class cyber security by maintaining PCI DSS compliance. An external security audit performed by Stratsec has verified that eWay has met all of the required standards to protect its users data from unauthorized access and use. Transactions made both online and at a point of sale are protected from malicious activity.

That same level of security is applied to sites that use eWay to process purchases made on their site. Sites that implement a tool such as eWay provide their customers with an increased level of confidence that their payment info will be protected against cyber crime.
